For Amber Portwood, one of the stars of MTV’s Teen Mom, things had been looking up. The Indiana Child Protection Services has just closed it’s investigation and deemed her a fit parent for daughter Leah. Then a skipped probation hearing, failing to receive her GED and a drunken fight at a restaurant, among many other probation violations landed her back in an Indiana jail. Read on to see how long the troubled reality star could be in the slammer this time.
Amber Portwood will most likely spend her 2nd consecutive Christmas behind bars in Indiana. In June the Teem Mom star was found guilty of assaulting, her former fiance and father of her child, Gary Shirley. She received a suspended sentence.
After being a no-show at her most recent probation hearing, Indiana police made a visit to her house. While there they searched her purse and according to her brother, Shawn Portwood, found some “old pills” that Amber claimed were from an old prescription. When pressed, Amber could not come up with proof of ever being prescribed the pills. This incident coming only a few months after Amber Portwood completed rehab, follwing an attempt to take her own life.
This is the last in a string of incidents that put her probation status in jeopardy. The mother of 3-year-old Leah also, according to the probation violation report failed to receive her GED and get written proof to the Madison County Circuit Court Probation Department; failed to successfully complete six months of intensive outpatient anger management classes; failed to pay probation fees totaling $56; and failed to set up an IRS-qualified educational fund for her daughter with an initial deposit of $10,000. Last month she also got into a drunken altercation at a restaurant.
Shortly before her arrest, Amber was also in a car accident that was deemed to be fault for following too closely when she rear ended a car as it turned into a driveway.
Amber Portwood has a hearing set for January, 13, meaning she will more than likely spend the holidays behind bars.
