One of the star’s of MTV’s Teen Mom, Amber Portwood, is facing 2 more felony charges in Indiana. Already in jail for probation violations, Amber has now been charged with felony domestic battery and possession of a controlled substance. Read on to find out what brought on the new charges and when she might get to see baby Leah again.
The holidays are not off to a good start for one of the stars of MTV’s hit series Teen Mom. Amber Portwood was arrested at her house earlier this week for violating her probation. In June, Amber pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence for assaulting her former fiance and father of her 3-year-old daughter, Leah.
According to her original probation report, Amber failed to get her GED, complete an anger management program and set up a college education fund for Leah. Amber also chose to skip her probation hearing, causing a warrant to be issued for her arrest.
When police arrived, they found prescription pills at the bottom of her purse for which she could not produce a prescription. These pills resulted in Amber being charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The second new charge of felony battery is the result of a bar fight that occurred in October. Amber, who was fresh out of rehab for a suicide attempt, allegedly got into a drunken fight with other patrons at an Anderson, Indiana pub.
Amber faced a judge via video this morning and was told about the 2 new felony charges and that she would remain behind bars until her next hearing on January 27, 2012.
Her daughter Leah is in the custody of her father, Gary Shirley.
