Though The X Factor brought tears of joy to winner Melanie Amaro’s eyes in the final episode, the show’s dramatic antics made judge Nicole Scherzinger well up in practically every episode. Has the show proven to be too much of an emotional rollercoaster for the former Pussycat Doll, causing her to give up her judge’s seat? Scherzinger admitted that her gig on FOX has been hard to handle, and that she’s now picking up the microphone again. However, will it be as a singer or a television host to replace Steve Jones?
In an interview with RadarOnline, Nicole Scherzinger hinted that she may not be returning to The X Factor as a judge next season due to her preferred priority: singing. She claims that her tracks have yet to be released because of the extensive commitment that the show demands of its mentors:
“Next year for me, it’s about my music…The reason [my album] hasn’t come out yet is because of The X Factor. It’s been so time consuming. I work with these contestants six days a week. So I delayed the album,” Scherzinger confessed.
She performed her upcoming single “Pretty” in a latter episode and definitely gave the world a taste of what she’s been working on, and we can’t really blame her for being frustrated about hiding it for so many weeks! ”I’m used to being on stage and performing and singing for people and people cheering for me. I am an artist first, not a judge first.”
What else has been on her plate lately? “I really want to find the right roles and the right opportunities in acting,” she said. Scherzinger just wrapped up a role in Men in Black III alongside Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. “Theater is actually what I studied in college.”
Scherzinger also admitted that her role on the show has stirred up more emotions than she initially expected. “This has been quite a learning experience, quite a journey for me. I didn’t expect to have been so emotional through the whole elimination process. I wanted to just mentor and empower artists.” Besides tears, the mentor and judge also received harsh criticism for eliminating Rachel Crow and Drew Ryniewicz and has spent an extensive amount of time and energy defending her decisions.
Though she’s received criticisms for being too overly emotional as a judge, The X Factor host Steve Jones has collected feedback of not being emotional enough and failing to comfort contestants in a way that the show demands. Rumors are rampant that Scherzinger may be offered the hosting gig!
