What a way to kick off 2012 – Fox’s American Idol alum James Durbin married his long-time girlfriend, Heidi Lowe, on New Year’s Eve. The season 10 top 4 finalist married Heidi in front of 85 friends and family in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The couple told People magazine, ”This wedding was the perfect way to kick off the New Year. We are looking forward to living happily ever after.”
Surrounded by loved ones, James and Heidi exchanged vows in front of several of James’ fellow season 10 American Idol contestants, including Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone, and Casey Abrams. The most special guest certainly had to be the ring bearer, the couple’s two-year old son Hunter. ”We are so in love and happy that we got to share our special day with our closest family and friends,” the couple gushed to People magazine.
James Durbin and Heidi Lowe enjoyed a surprise performance by Geoff Tate, front man for Queensryche, who sang one of their favorite songs, “Take Hold of the Flame” in their honor. They followed up their chapel nuptials with a reception at a local community hall, where their guests joined them in ringing in the new year.
James Durbin, who turns 23 on January 6, had a great run on American Idol Season 10, when he was voted off in a shocking top four vote. Despite his elimination, he received a homecoming parade, an honor usually reserved for the top three and the only time the show has made this exception. His first album, Memories of a Beautiful Disaster, was released in November 2011, and debuted at number eight on the Billboard Rock Chart.
