Recently, we learned that Fox‘s So You Think You Can Dance was renewed for another season, and the auditions are about to begin. But, the new buzz from Nigel Lythgoe is that we will no longer be seeing a results show, so what is going to happen with the eliminations? Read on for the scoop!
Although auditions are set to begin on So You Think You Can Dance, Fox announced that they will be canceling the weekly results show. Nigel Lythgoe Tweeted recently: “FOX has cancelled the results show so I will have to change the format of #SYTYCD. At least we have another season at the end of MAY.” But what does that mean for the eliminations? We have no idea what is in store for the new season, but hey, at least we have a new season that will kick off in May 2012.
According to Nigel Lythgoe, we have no worries, as he is working on figuring it all out, and he added on Twitter: “I’m certainly not mad at FOX they have supported #SYTYCD FOR 9 seasons. With the help of Mike Darnell I think we have some great new ideas.” So why the changes? Well, the season eight finale, which crowned Melanie Moore the winner, was down 9% in ratings from the previous year, but still managed to rank as the #1 summer show.
