Though it all began in Orange County, California, the Real Housewives reality show has popped up everywhere: Washington DC, Miami, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New Jersey and New York. But these aren’t the only places that television-worthy housewives reside, and the Bravo reality show has taken note, internationally!
The Real Housewives of Athens is preparing for its second season, The Real Housewives of Israel is in the works, and NBCUniversal is currently casting for a version…in France. So where else will the Real Housewives pop up next? Grab your maps and start keeping track!
With international versions of the Real Housewives franchise already airing in Greece and Israel, and a Vancouver spinoff to bow in March, NBCUniversal says casting is under way for a series in France!
And this is just the beginning of television’s first docu-soap to franchise internationally: NBCUniversal also hopes to pop up in Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia’s Gold Coast, and the United Kingdom.
“Who would have thought that a fairly modest series would be here six years [later] as our longest running franchise?“ Lauren Zalaznick, Chairman of Bravo’s parent company, NBCUniversal Entertainment & Digital Networks, and Integrated Media tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s beyond incredible. It’s absurd.”
The latest issue of THR features Orange County’s Vicki Gunvalson, New York’s Ramona Singer, New Jersey’s Caroline Manzo, Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes and Beverly Hills’ Kyle Richards on the cover!
