The X Factor Melanie Amaro Still Hopes To Pursue Nursing Career

January 05, 2012 03:48 PM by Ashley Lee

The X Factor’s five million dollar recording contract was deemed “the largest guaranteed prize in television history,” and it was well earned by Melanie Amaro last month, but she has confessed that she still hopes to finish her nursing degree and continue that career path someday. How does she plan on juggling two careers? You won’t believe her ambitions.

Melanie Amaro shared that she still hopes to pursue a career in nursing someday.

Before she auditioned for The X Factor in Miami, the 19-year-old winning contestant was just a freshman student at Broward College in Florida, pursuing a degree in nursing.

“To be honest, I still do want to do nursing because I want to help people,” she said in a new interview. “But I think as of right now I want to pursue what I absolutely love, which is my singing first.” She just landed a record deal with Epic Records and will start developing her debut album.

Not only has she not given up her dreams of becoming a nurse, but she is also considering juggling both career paths now.

“I’ll just probably take classes while I’m on the road or something,” she continued. “I don’t know. Whatever comes my way.”

Do you think Melanie Amaro will eventually become a nurse? Or is she set for stardom as a singer?

Melanie will not need to pursue nursing. She is going to have a major recording career, and with 5 million dollars to start off with, she won’t need anything to fall back on. If she wants to help, she can volunteer. But a dual career will not be necessary.
