Even though The Sing Off just wrapped up its third season last month, judge Shawn Stockman has been keeping busy while not on the air for the a cappella reality competition: yesterday, Boyz II Men received a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! The walk’s 2,456th star is the first to be placed in 2012. What does Stockman have to say for the permanent sign of the R&B group’s success after twenty years? See who showed up to the ceremony and what’s next for the band!
According to ABC Local, Boyz II Men’s star was placed on the 7000 block of Hollywood Boulevard, near legendary Motown artists such as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, The Miracles and the Temptations.
“Very grateful we get to share such a special moment with you all!” Shawn Stockman tweeted early yesterday. “Whether you’re here physically or not, we still feel your sincerity!”
Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis joined current Boyz II Men group members Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wayna Morris at the ceremony earlier today.
“Surrounded by all my closest friends and family! Today is actually deeper than the star itself!” the Sing Off judge continued.
The Boyz II Men members also tweeted that the ceremony is a moment that seems surreal. “We have sang for the Pope, Mandela, Presidents, Olympics, Super Bowls,” the band said. “But this today has us humbled like never before…twenty years ago, we shot [the] Motownphilly video, not sure what was going to happen. We are some blessed men!”
Before scouting out new a cappella talent for the next season of The Sing Off, Shawn Stockman and Boyz II Men will be kicking off a 17-city tour in Europe, followed by a handful of shows in the U.S. Congratulations, Boyz!
