Did MTV foot the bill for Leah Messer‘s 1.5 carat princess-cut diamond engagement ring? Not according to Jeremy Calvert. With speculation that the couple’s Christmas engagement and surprise baby news are merely part of a scheme to make money, Calvert took to Twitter to address the haters and clear up any confusion about how he makes his dough. Keep reading for all the details.
Some may think that Jeremy Calvert had a little help from some friends at MTV to pay for the princess-cut diamond ring he presented to Leah Messer when he proposed on Christmas day, but the hubby (and baby daddy)-to-be says the network had no part in the purchase of Messer’s ring…not even indirectly.
“[U]mm FYI I don’t make a penny from MTV my own money bought it!” 22-year-old Jeremy tweeted on January 4th when pressed by Twitter users about his big purchase.
So, what does he do to make that money if he’s not on the Teen Mom 2 payroll?
“I work 6 to 7 days a week outside in the cold to make my money and I’ll spend it how I want.”
But there are still rumors that the couple’s engagement and Leah’s pregnancy are all part of a larger plan to cash in by selling wedding photos and interviews to a number of media outlets.
This will be the second marriage for Teen Mom’s Leah Messer. She was previously married to Corey Simms, the father of her two-year-old twins Aleeah and Aliannah. Their divorce was finalized in the summer of 2011.
