Congrats to Top Chef Masters judge James Oseland! The Bravo reality star and editor-in-chief of Saveur recently wed partner Daniel Dos Santos in New York City. Keep reading for all the details on the couple’s special day…including what they ate!
Oseland and his partner of five years were wed on December 22nd, 2011, saying their ‘I do’s’ before 30 of their closest friends and family members at City Hall.
“We are the most happy, weirdly compatible two people I know, both finicky and relaxed and soulful at the same time,” James gushed. “It’s like the two of us were somehow growing up to be soulmates on totally opposite sides of the world, me in suburban California, Daniel in the Brazilian countryside, drawn together with the kind of electric magnetism that makes marriages happen.”
The couple, who exchanged $24 silver-plated rings, purchased just days before the ceremony, enjoyed a post-nuptial meal that had special meaning for the pair. After the wedding, Oseland, Dos Santos, and their guests walked to Excellent Pork Chop House, a Taiwanese restaurant in Chinatown that also happens to be the first place the couple ever dined together.
“We all ordered the things Daniel and I usually order, like delicious cold, pickly dishes and some of the best noodles in New York and the most bizarre and fabulous bitter herbal soup to sip on the side,” shares James.
And what’s a wedding without the cake?!
James, Daniel, and their guests enjoyed a coconut layer cake topped with mini grooms and a tiny, plastic leopard-painted cat to represent the couple’s pet, Sam.
