Mob Wives Recap: Hell On Heels

January 09, 2012 05:30 AM by Perry Miller

This week on Vh1′s Mob Wives, we re-join Karen Gravano and Drita D’Avanzo as they try and make peace at Renee Graziano’s party. The women came to blows over Lee D’Avanzo last season, can they talk things out without getting physical? And what famous gangster is the grandfather of new cast member Ramona Rizzo? Read on for a full recap of tonight’s brand new episode.

The new episode of Mob Wives opens where the last one left off. Former best friends Karen Gravano and Drita D’Avanzo are attempting to make peace at Renee Graziano’s birthday party. Both women had promised Renee that they would keep their distance from each other and keep the spotlight on Renee. Convinced by Angela “Big Ang” Raiola the women reluctantly agree to talk.

Drita D’Avanzo begins the conversation by telling Karen Gravano how sorry she is about throwing the first punch at their last fight. Both women seem to be confused about what exactly they are fighting about. Drita thinks that they are arguing over her soon-to-be ex-husband, Lee D’Avanzo, who Karen dated prior to his relationship with Drita. Karen thinks the fight revolves around what has happened between the two women, regardless of any men from their past. The conversation quickly gets heated and Drita¬†gets even more upset when Karen’s friend Ramona Rizzo joins them on the balcony to give her two cents. The women once again come to blows, with Drita throwing the first punch. Friends and security quickly try and break them up. Drita’s friend, Derek Tobacco, grabs her and pulls her away. Karen and Ramona, who is bleeding from her mouth, are both restrained as well. Renee, is understandably upset by the women creating such a scene at her party. She claims that the party “was supposed to be a celebration of life” and that the women turned it into “death at a funeral”.

Renee pulls Drita aside to try and calm her down and check out her injured eye. Drita immediately accuses Renee of trying to set her up. As Drita is taken out of the party by security, Renee follows and swears on her son that she had nothing to do with the fight.

During the confusion, Derek Tobacco is accused of being the one to hit Ramona and cause her mouth to bleed. Karen Gravano, despite being held back by security, searches in vain so she can find Derek. It seems that he is no where to be found and Karen calms down at the bar with Renee’s ex-husband Junior Pagan. Until Ramona Rizzo (below) spots Derek Tobacco and goes after him again.

Derek Tobacco is trying to proclaim his innocence, but Ramona and Karen just continue to attack. Renee comes back in from sending Drita home and kicks everyone out of her party. Karen and Ramona refuse to leave until they can talk to Derek, who is outside.

When some of the men, including Junior, find out that Derek is outside, they gather up to go and find him to discuss the possibility that he hit a woman. This upsets Renee Graziano even further, because Junior is awaiting his sentencing in one of the biggest mob busts in history, so she would like him to stay out of trouble. Renee runs ahead and screams for Derek to leave, which he does quickly.

The next morning Carla Facciolo, who Renee did not invite to the party, hears about all of the drama surrounding the party through neighborhood gossip. She tries to get a hold of Drita to check on her and get the real story.

Renee and Junior also replay the evening before over breakfast with their son, AJ. Junior seems to be the voice of reason when he says, “You can’t put people who hate each other in a room with alcohol.”

Karen and Ramona meet for coffee and try to figure out fact from fiction about the fight. Most importantly, they both agree that Derek Tobacco was not the person who hit Ramona.

Drita D’Avanzo invites Carla Facciolo over to talk about her side of the events from party. Drita claims she should have never gone, because she was uncomfortable being there alone. She says she is done with Karen and will never try to mend their friendship ever again.

We get to know more about new cast member Ramona Rizzo as she tours Little Italy with Karen Gravano. The two women have known each other since they were toddlers and are so close they call each other “cousins”. Unlike, Karen, who always knew about her father, Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, being associated with the mob, Ramona claims that her family kept her in the dark until her grandfather was arrested. Her grandfather is Benjamin “Lefty Guns” Ruggeiro, who was portrayed by Al Pacino in Donnie Brasco.

As this episode wraps, Renee Graziano and her ex-husband Junior, find out that Junior faces 15-21 months in jail for his part in one of the biggest mob busts in history. They go for a walk and Junior reveals that during Renee’s stint in the hospital, following her plastic surgery, he realized he is still in love with her. Renee agrees that they should be together despite a rocky past, that involves infidelity and jail time.

Tune in next week as Drita prepares to be a single mother and Renee and Junior begin their romance all over again. Mob Wives airs Sunday nights on VH1 at 8/7c.

I think that it was very immature and distasteful that Karen and Ramona double teamed Drita at Renee’s party. It’s a shame that Karen felt the need to have help to fight Drita and more shameful that she chose to deliberately provoke Drita knowing that backing her to the wall with two on one would make her feel defensive and snap. Karen and Ramona are trouble makers and they made themselves look more street ho than mafia. If Karen spent more time in the gym and Ramona spent less time up karen’s vagina they would both have a slight chance to look like real women instead of drag queens in wigs. Drita was sincerely trying to make amends with karen and Karen used that opportunity to create ongoing drama because the truth is that Drita whipped her behind when they first got into a fight and Karen desparately wanted to redeem her dignity…..which she can not do without help unfortunately. Renee is beautiful rather she know’s it or not and Carla was smart not to even bother with the drama. Karen need’s to grow up and understand that the mind frame Drita had when they were younger may not be the same mind frame she has today. karen has past issues just like anyone else and she need’s to take a few lessons from Renee about progress and friendship. Karen’s always listening to what other people told her which is foolish for an adult to do. I think that Drita is better off being the fly girl that she is and never bother to try to make amends with karen again.

Drita threw the first punch! I don’t know how people can say Drita was set up when she was the one who threw the first punch. When Drita saw Ramona coming over she should have walked away. In fact, she should have walked away when she saw the tone of Karen, and it was obvious Karen had no intention of making up with her. Karen may have been looking for a fight, but last season the roles were reversed. It was Drita who came to the conversation looking for a fight so what goes around comes around. After marrying someone’s ex and physically attacking them, quite frankly I don’t know how Drita could have thought she and Karen could be cool again. Come on b*tch.
