The Bachelor Hits An All Time Low In Ratings

January 12, 2012 10:12 AM by Lisa Princ

With all the drama surrounding The Bachelor so far this season, how is it possible that the ABC series has hit an all time low in ratings? Do you viewers dislike Ben Flajnik? Or could it be too much drama to keep folks from tuning in? Read on for more…

Is it possible that too much drama could be a bad thing? The Bachelor is only two weeks into the new season, and while it has been drama packed from the start, the series has fallen to an all time low in ratings. The Bachelor, which ran from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., slipped to a 2.2/5 and 7.2 million total viewers – a drop of 8% from last season and its poorest showing to date. With most of the other networks running repeats at that time, this news comes as a bit of a shock to fans.

We surely thought that this season, which includes Ben Flajnik, who was turned down by Ashley Hebert on The Bachelorette, would have done better in ratings. After all, so many fans were disappointed to learn that Ashley did not choose Ben, and when Ben Flajnik was announced as this season’s Bachelor, fans seemed thrilled. I mean, last season we watched “villain” Brad Womack on the screen, a decision that disappointed most of us when it was announced, yet his season took off with higher ratings.

We can only hope that next week the ratings will go back up, especially since Chris Harrison promised some explosive drama on Monday. Have you been tuning in to The Bachelor? Why do you think Ben is getting lower ratings? Are you looking forward to next week’s episode of The Bachelor? Comment below and share your thoughts with us!

For once, just once, I would like to see the Bachelor confront the ladies, or get a chance to see some of the solitary moments when the women talk to the camera alone somewhere in the house. Let the Bachelor/ette see just how strange and scary some of these people really are. Then, plot to make them show their true colors. Now, THAT is a show. LOL
It is too boring now…..and the same old same old…a crying, anxiety-ridden weirdo (gone now) and maniacal “I am better than all here” witches.

I think the low views have come from the too much drama. Most of the girls seem really fake and sluty. Where are the girls like Emily who are sweet and don’t throw themselves at the guy every second. The show should be about love not plowing down the other girls just to date Ben for a second them leave him. If Ben does make it out with a steady relationship I would be surprised. I know as a viewer I want a love story not jersey shores!

I agree. Ben is boring and the ladies are boring as well. This season needs a Bently.

It makes me wonder how they interview the contestants to be selected to be on the show? It is really awful this time! So sad it isn’t as good as last season while I watched it every week!

The damn women are for the most part not attractive.

Lindzie, Casey Tn. and Courtney are the final 3 and Courtney wins..
It’s all over the internet .. so the drama is gone from this season..

Reason ratings are so low is that we are getting tired of recycled bachelors and bachelorettes. Bring in new blood.

Ben is showing more personality than he did on The Bachelorette which I life. The majority of the women are acting immaturity and nasty which is a disappointment not drama. We don’t need a liar like Bentley to keep the show interesting. The first Bachelorette with Trista was low key but great to watch and look at her results: 7 years married to Ryan and two beautiful children. The woman should take an example from Trista.

It’s so boring this season. The girls are ugly on outside and the inside, and the fighting all seems to be for the cameras. It’s really pathetic and it’s killing the ratings. I’ve watched “The Bachelor” since I lived in Italy. It was one of the only shows on Armed Forces Network television. It was always a cheesy concept, but it has such low-class women on it now, with no pride in themselves. These are all supposedly professionals who’ve been to school and have real jobs. It’s embarrassing to see them crying and whining, fighting and arguing, and drinking large quantities of alcohol. Why would Ben, or any other man, want that when he goes home. Is that an indication of how they are when the doors are closed? That’s scary! Okay, then we have Ben, who seemed so high class when he was on Ashley’s Bachelorette show, but now that he’s The Bachelor, he’s swapping spit with every female in the room, which is just – Yuck. I would think he’d conduct himself in a higher manner, thinking of his mom and sister’s opinions of him. His mom is probably beyond embarrassed now that she’s watching the show. Napa is a small town community and I’m sure Ben has now become a laughing stock.

Interjection of lesbianism turned off many viewers because being a faggot is not acceptable especially during primetime family television.

The 3 finalists have been known for weeks, as obviously Kacie from Tenn. Linzie who rode her horse into the show and the winner Courtney is already engaged to Ben.

Everyone knows this so the whole show has lost it’s appeal.

The female cast was very weak this season and for the most part not too easy on the eyes… and all the crying and slinking away to mope in private is boring TV..

Big reasons why the viewers have fallen off.

@G King! You could have not said it better. ABC’s flaunting homosexuality into our faces is insulting.

The female cast are a bunch of low class immature floozy’s.

Ben was a gentleman with Ashley Hebert, but now he’s a slut who needs to stay in the hot tub or other water to hid his erections from public TV.

His mom and his sister must be ashamed of Bens current image.

Bring on Major League Baseball, this girl’s tired of blowing Monday nights on the trash that the Bachelor has become. If the new Bachelorette becomes another re-run ex cast member.. specifically “Emily”, they may as well just not make the production because the ratings on that show would plummet even farther down the rat hole.

I used to enjoy the Bachelor but it has really started to go over the top and down the hill. Not as good as it used to be. A lot of the women act very common. I would venture to say that we will not be seeing to many more future seasons.
