Wondering what Whitney Port of The Hills and The City has been up to lately? She’s actually been quite busy: she filmed a cameo in the upcoming ensemble film What to Expect When You’re Expecting and has been promoting the freshly launched British shopping site, Very.com. Even more so, it has just been announced that she will finally be taking her fashion line, Whitney Eve, to the next level—her first solo show at New York Fashion Week!
Whitney Port has been designing Whitney Eve since 2008, but she has never taken any of her collections to the runways of New York Fashion Week and has only shared her designs at fashion trade shows. But that’s all about to change: last week, news broke that Port’s Fashion Week debut is set for next month at Lincoln Center and will show off her upcoming fall collection!
“My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show,” she said in a press release which, shockingly, came from People’s Revolution, the company spearheaded by publicist Kelly Cutrone that Port worked for while filming The City.
“I am so excited to show on schedule as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and can’t wait to show my new fall collection on the runway.”
The Whitney Eve runway show will take place in The Studio at Lincoln Center at 9am on February 15th—the same day as some of fashion’s biggest names, Anna Sui and Michael Kors.
Do you think Whitney Port’s NYFW runway show will be a hit or a miss? Is her debut long overdue or should she stick to showing off her line at fashion trade shows?
