Nick Cannon Thanks Fans For Support During Kidney Failure

January 21, 2012 11:00 AM by Ashley Lee

Though America’s Got Talent host Nick Cannon suffered mild kidney failure earlier this month, he has told fans he’s doing better, thanks to the help of wife Mariah Carey. He returned to work this past week and also released a new video reflecting on the health scare and resolving to live with a healthier perspective. Watch the full video after the jump!

“Alright, so, I’m back. I’m not dead!” said Nick Cannon, thanking fans for their support throughout his time in the hospital over the past few weeks.

“I appreciate all the love, all the concern, all the letters and emails and texts, people sending me flowers and stuff,” he said in the video. He jokingly dispels rumors of being in the hospital for plastic surgery, and gets serious when he confesses that poor diet and sleep habits, among other things, led to his “under the weather” condition of mild kidney failure.

“I did have some major issues with my kidneys, along with some other stuff. But really I had just overworked my body,” he explained. “The doctors had to reboot my entire immune system, and I’m working through that now.”

However, he reassures fans that he’s doing well now. “I feel like I’m 100 percent. A couple more procedures and things to go, but I’ll be fine.”

Cannon added that he has a renewed appreciation for wife Mariah Carey and his family and fans. The host also said that he will be “making sure I stop and smell the roses, keeping my family first, loving my wife for taking care of me through all of this, enjoying my kids, and enjoying you guys.”
