Designer Isaac Mizrahi and his partner of six years quietly eloped in New York City late last year. Though the Project Runway All Stars judge has only been married for about seven weeks now, he says he’s loving it! Read on for more of his nuptial details, and how he feels about debuting the news on The Wendy Williams Show.
“It’s amazing,” said Isaac Mizrahi to People during Thursday’s Project Runway All Stars panel at New York’s Paley Center. “I recommend it a lot.”
Though the designer got married to his partner of six years, Arnold Germer, at New York’s City Hall on November 30th, he didn’t go public with the news until he appeared on The Wendy Williams Show to promote the current season of Project Runway All Stars.
“We told people, we didn’t keep it a secret … we just didn’t announce it,” Mizrahi said. “Somehow, when you tell something to Wendy Williams, she lets it out.”
Marriage wasn’t always a priority for the couple, and actually decided to elope to avoid the details of a lavish ceremony. “We didn’t think we wanted to get married until they said we could in New York, and then it was like, ‘We’re getting married!’ ”
Of course Mizrahi was happy to share the news of his nuptials, as he was to show off the ring while on the talk show. However, he wasn’t necessarily prepared for the attention that he received!
“I didn’t expect to go on [Wendy Williams] saying, ‘Hey, this is a secret, Wendy,’ but I certainly didn’t expect it on Taxi TV and People,” he said. “But I’m thrilled.”
