Doesn’t Jennifer Lopez already have enough on her plate as a judge on American Idol, a talent scout on Q’Viva! The Chosen with Marc Anthony and a new relationship with Casper Smart? Apparently, she still has plenty of room for new projects. It has just announced that she’ll be producing a new television show with MTV! Read on for all the details on the new scripted series (yep, no judges’ panel here!) that J.Lo’s working on.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lopez is tied a new MTV show. She will be producing a new series for Musica y Mas, the cable network targeting the Hispanic millennial generation and was formerly known as MTV Tres.
The show will be called Amigas Inc., an aspirational eight-episode television series that chronicles the lives of four entrepreneurial Miami teenagers who launch a party-planning business to throw their perfect 15th birthday parties, also known as their Quinceneras. Author Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted, Tuck Everlasting) created the Amigas, Inc. book series and characters, and used Jennifer Lopez as inspiration.
Lopez will serve as executive producer along with Startz and Simon Fields.
“I’m so excited to bring the Amigas series to television and to share the rich cultural experiences of being a Latino that are universal to us all,” said Lopez. “I hope that this series will entertain audiences and inspire my fans to pursue their own dreams.”
The series will launch in the fall. United Entertainment will take on a producing role along with Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Jane Startz Productions.
Do you think Amigas Inc. will be a series worth watching?
