What Bravolebrity Was Almost Cast As ‘The Bachelor’?

January 24, 2012 09:00 AM by Shayla Perry

Once upon a time, long before Ben Flajnik, there was another man that ABC executives had their eyes on to the fill the role of The Bachelor. Who was it? Here’s a hint: These days, you can find him on Bravo. Find out the identity of the mystery man after the jump.

Yup, he’s got the 4-1-1 alright. Now, Bravo exec and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen is letting us in on a few details about his own life; specifically, his would-be stint on ABC’s wildly popular reality show, The Bachelor! Whaaaaat?!

“I got a call once years ago before anybody knew who I was,” Cohen explains to HollywoodLife. “My picture was in W magazine and the producers of The Bachelor called. They were calling to see if I would ever be interested in going through the casting process.”

Obviously, AC turned them down, telling the network, “‘You are barking up the wrong tree. Unless The Bachelor is going in a different direction,’” referring to his homosexuality.

But as incredibly awesome as it may be to think of a Andy as The Bachelor – or a different direction for the show after all these years of the same thing – we’re kind of glad things turned out the way they did.

Where would we be without our Housewives?! For that alone, Andy Cohen has our hearts forever.

And now, we get to see the (other) sexy silver fox even more, with Watch What Happens Live airing five nights a week. Catch it on Bravo weeknights at 11pm (live on east coast only).
