The Biggest Loser’s Gail Lee Chats About Her Elimination

January 26, 2012 12:00 PM by Lisa Princ

This week on NBC‘s The Biggest Loser, we watched the teams fight it out for use of the gym, and ultimately, Bob Harper’s team ended up losing the use of the gym, and the weigh in! At the elimination table, the black team voted to send off Gail Lee, whom they did not feel was pulling her weight. In a post elimination press conference, Gail shared her thoughts on the show, Bob Harper’s comments, and her elimination. Read on for more!

The Biggest Loser‘s Gail Lee left the ranch this week after her fellow team members fought between voting her or Chris off, but Emily’s vote broke the tie. In a post elimination interview, Gail has no hard feelings and is still working hard toward her goal. She has currently lost over 50 lbs, and is thrilled to have had this experience with her daughter, Lauren, who was eliminated last week. Check out Gail’s press interview below.

Question: Tell us about your relationship with Bob Harper. We saw him talk to the camera this season and say some things about you, how did that make you feel?

Gail Lee: What you may not know is that you only see a very small part of what took place on the ranch, and I’m really proud of what I accomplished on the show. There are many hours of footage that are shot, and only a small part makes it on television. And the viewers aren’t seeing the times that Bob told me how really proud he was of me. Bob pushed me really hard because he believed I was capable of doing more and that I would be a big inspiration to other women, especially my age. I really wish the production would have shown more positive things and more positive interactions between Bob and I. He’s just an amazing trainer, and I was very blessed to have him in my life.

Question: Why does it seem like everyone wants to leave the ranch this season?

Gail Lee: I wouldn’t say that there were a whole lot of people who wanted to come home from this season. Again, you are not seeing everything. Everyone had their own story and dynamic. I think we saw two people that needed to do what they did for themselves, and I respect them for that. I really have not watched past seasons to compare.

Question: Do you think that Chris should have gone home?

Gail Lee: I believe God has us exactly where he wants us to be. There are so many dynamics. I didn’t want to come home. The environment is exactly what I needed, taking me out of all the distractions and surrounding me with world class professionals on every level, including Bob Harper. I would still be there if I could. But, I needed to come home and figure out what was going on with my body and be able to address it, which I’ve done, and done it very successfully. It was all about the dynamics of our team versus what I needed to do for myself. I needed to come home.

Question: Were you expecting to go home?

Gail Lee: I let everyone know that I didn’t want to go home, but I also let them know that it was okay. You didn’t see all this as the show was shortened to only an hour, and so much was left out. I let each person know as they voted, that it was okay. I am where I need to be.

Question: What is the most important thing you learned about yourself?

Gail Lee: I learned that I need to put myself first and make myself a priority. I was always taking care of everone else and putting myself last. I also learned that I am worth putting myself first.

Question: What is your exercise routine now?

Gail Lee: Well, I came home to a full time job, but I still have an intense workout schedule. I workout five days a week with personal trainers, and I try to swim at least an hour for 4-5 days a week. I do a lot of walking as well, since I can’t run right now.

Question: What are your goals now?

Gail Lee: I have organized several 5ks since being home, and I would like to turn a Thanksgiving and New Years 5k into a fundraiser for my community. I’d also like to get my body healthy enough to participate in a 10k, even if I have to walk it. I want to make them a regular part of my life.

Question: Do you have a goal weight for the finale?

Gail Lee: I’d love to hop on the scale and have it show that I have lost 100 lbs.
