Nick Cannon Struggling to Get His Sexy Back in Time For ‘America’s Got Talent’

January 27, 2012 10:00 AM by Shayla Perry

It seems that the mild kidney failure took a toll on Nick Cannon‘s body, and in more ways than one! Weeks after being hospitalized for his condition, the America’s Got Talent host is on a mission to get his six-pack abs back in time for Season 7 of the NBC reality show.

“My doctor said today is the first day that I can work out again,” Cannon tweeted on Thursday (January 26), adding, “I got to get back to fight weight! The Hulk is on his way back!”

Nick’s wife, Mariah Carey, broke the news of the star’s kidney failure in early January, revealing that he had fallen ill during a family ski trip in Aspen. Cannon, who kept fans abreast of his status via Twitter, was eventually transferred to a hospital in L.A., then released a few days later.

After returning to his radio show on January 17th, Nick is now focused on prepping for his return to reality TV.

“Getting back in shape is going to be tough,” Nick explained. “The doctor said because of my condition, my body can’t process protein and that’s what builds muscle.

“Time to work smarter not harder,” he continued, “but I got to get right by the time America’s Got Talent starts!”

That gives Nick at least a few months before taping starts for Season 7 of the NBC reality show.

To get there, the father-of-two is trying out “this renal diet,” because as he notes: “Skinny with a gut is not fresh.”

“Right now in my tank-top I look like Samuel L. Jackson in Black Snake Moan,” Cannon joked. “I need to get back in shape.”
