Toddlers & Tiaras Mom Sues Media For Sexualizing Daughter

January 28, 2012 03:00 PM by Ashley Lee

Toddlers & Tiaras mom Susanna Barrett has filed a $30 million lawsuit against various media companies, saying they’ve attempted to sexualize her 5-year-old daughter, Isabella, by posting a video of her dancing online. Read on for the details on the suit, including the crazy claims that this stage mom is making against TMZ, The Huffington Post, and London’s Daily Mail!

The parent companies of TMZThe Huffington Post, and London’s Daily Mail are being sued by Susanna Barrett for their allegedly “brazen attempts to sexualize” Isabella, according to court documents obtained by E! News. She claims that these sites posted a video of her daughter singing along to LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It,” complete with exaggerated and defamatory descriptions.

“After this firestorm, I quickly protected my daughter by having cease and desist orders sent to most media outlets that ran the story,” Barrett told CNN. “I intend to clear my daughter’s name.”

However, are they true? TMZ reported that Barrett commented, “That’s a real catchy song,” to one of their camera guys a few days after the video was first posted.

“Isabella Barrett did not act or portray herself sexually, erotically or provocatively; she was not ‘gyrating’ at a ‘nightclub’ or singing ‘about her sex appeal,’” Barrett’s complaint states. “She did not understand the concept of sex, let alone ‘sex appeal’ and could not have been singing about her own sex appeal…On the contrary, it is the defendants who, through their articles, have thrust these false and vulgar characteristics on to Isabella.”

Isabella’s mother is demanding $30 million because she claims that her daughter is now “perceived sexually, erotically and pornographically” because the articles “have placed Isabella in serious physical danger, attracting the attention of others who would seek to sexualize a child.”

What do you think of Susanna’s lawsuit? Is she right to protect her daughter from the media, or is it her fault for letting her daughter dance to LMFAO’s song?

Child cruelty at it’s height. Pixi Sticks are called Pageant Crack and they fill those little girls with Red Bull and caffene. Mommies will be surprised when their daughters are mothers themselves at age 12! For crying out loud can’t someone stop these washed up Wanna Be Star Moms before they totally ruin their poor children. Also the kids are turning into raging brats!

If you don’t want your daughter sexualized, then don’t make her sing and sexualized song. This is ridiculous. Isabella might not know what ‘sexy’ means, but the mom sure does and she’s the one who let her (forced her to?)sing that song.

Honestly, I feel terrible for the little girl because she has a mother who not only puts her in pagents (which that alone sexualizes the little innocent girls most of the time), but she puts her on this rediculous TV show. If her mom wasn’t so money or fame hungry, this never would have happened. I think this show is disgusting, and even without the Isabella dancing to that song in a completely seperate incident from the show, there are probably perverts enjoying watching the little girls somewhere. If she found out that was happening, would she sue them for that too?
