Teen Mom 2‘s Amber Portwood was arrested and thrown behind bars on December 19th for violating her probation and possession of a controlled substance. Now, it’s being reported that the MTV star has struck a plea deal. Find out all the details of Portwood’s plea after the jump.
Over a month after her December 19th arrest, it looks like Amber Portwood might be leaving jail soon.
TMZ reports that the troubled Teen Mom 2 star struck a plea deal on Friday (January 27), which requires her to plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance and violating her probation.
As part of the deal, the 21-year-old mom will also have to complete a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program. If she complies with the terms of the deal, Amber’s case will be dismissed. BUT, if she violates any of the conditions of the plea, it’s straight to prison for Portwood, with a mandatory five-year sentence.
She’s not exactly leaving jail yet though.
The judge first has to approve Amber’s plea deal.
Portwood’s hearing is scheduled for February 6. Until then, Amber will remain in custody.
It sounds as though her time behind bars has had an impact on Portwood. In a letter written to her brother, the reality star expressed her desire to be a better role model for her 3-year-old daughter, Leah, assuring him, “If I can get out, I can really show her what a good mother is.”
Only time will tell!
Will Amber Portwood be able to comply with the terms of her plea deal, or will she end up in prison? Tell us what you think in the Comments section below.
