A problem with someone’s ego and it isn’t Simon Cowell? When it was announced that Nicole Scherzinger wouldn’t be returning for Season 2 of The X Factor, rumor had it that the former Pussycat Doll wanted more time to devote to her music, with insiders reporting that the FOX reality show was simply more time-consuming than Scherzinger had anticipated. But now, one of Nicole’s former mentees is speaking out in favor of her split, claiming that she was never “committed enough” and that her apparent need to prove herself to Simon was often more important than helping the contestants.
“Listen, Nicole isn’t a bad person but I don’t think she was ever committed enough,” former X Factor contestant Stacy Francis tells E!. “She didn’t have her head in the game.”
According to Francis, Scherzinger was MIA for most of the season, and when she was there, she wasn’t much help to her mentees.
“At one point, she banned Simon from my rehearsals,” says Francis. “He wanted to help and he knew what he was doing. It became about Nicole’s ego instead of me winning the $5 million.”
In fact, Stacy reveals that Cowell was the one who chose her best performance song, not Nicole.
Paula Abdul, on the other hand – who’s also not returning for the show’s second season – was always present.
“She was there six days a week,” says Stacy. “She gave her time and her commitment.”
Was Nicole Scherzinger’s ego a problem on The X Factor, or was it a case of conflicting schedules and bad timing? Tell us what you think in the Comments section below.
