Paula Abdul Blindsided By X Factor Firing

February 02, 2012 11:00 AM by Lisa Princ

Paula Abdul was recently fired from FOX‘s The X Factor, along with Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger. While Paula Abdul recently spoke out about the situation, sources now claim that she was actually blindsided by the decision, and things between she and Simon Cowell may not be what they seem. Read on for the scoop!

Simon Cowell issued a statement recently, in which he thanked Paula Abdul for her time on The X Factor, and Paula Abdul also spoke up over the firing, claiming that she and Simon would always remain friends. Is there actually trouble in paradise for these two? Sources close to Paula Abdul have a different tale to tell, admitting that Paula was not in talks about the decision, but she was blindsided by the decision instead. A concerned friend told Radaronline: “Everyone is afraid this is going to send her into a deep depression and cause her to revisit some of her old destructive behavior.”

Rumor has it that Paula Abdul actually found out that she may not be returning from Steve Jones, whom she spoke to on the phone and learned of his firing. When Paula called up Simon Cowell to ask him about the rumor that she may not be returning,  the friend claims that he told her: “the powers that be at Fox didn’t think she was ‘edgy’ enough to be brought back, but that he was working on trying to convince them to keep her on,” promising that he would line something else up for her.

The pal went on to tell the gossip site that Paula Abdul loved doing the X Factor, and she could not believe that Simon Cowell gave her the boot once again. Should she even trust him at this point? The friend went on to say that Paula finds it hard to believe that anyone would tell Simon Cowell what to do. There are now rumors going around that Beyonce and Mariah Carey will be the ones to replace Paula and Nicole Scherzinger, and if that happens, we hear Paula Abdul is going to be pissed.

Who do you think Simon Cowell should ask to replace Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones on The X Factor? What do you think of the firings? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, and be sure to come back to RTVM for the latest on the X Factor cast shake-up as it all unfolds.

What did Simon and L.A. do that was so much better than what Paula and Nicole did? They get to stay because they are men. They tried to replace Paula on Idol with Ellen and then JLo and that hasn’t worked out much better then Paula. It kind of makes no sense. I am tired of these shows now.

Ratings will not get any better with Beyonce and Mariah Carey on the show! I believe the peak this show can reach is around the 10-13 million mark regardless of who the judges are. And if in fact many of the people were tuning in to see the Simon and Paula duo (they enjoyed on American Idol), they may in fact lose some of those viewers are rating could dip below 10 million average total viewers next year!

wow, why now? Being a brand new show, this is not good. I do believe it is going to be the downfall with the show. I do not particular like either paula or nicole but I do believe they should at least get the show established before they start flying dirt. I will not watch it again after all we do have the voice which is excellent and also American Idol (love it) so too bad simon bad choice. FOX what were you thinking? BAD

I think this was a bad choice. I thought getting rid of Paula on American Idol was the wrong choice too. You can’t find a kinder person than she is, and sometimes when people are singing their heart out, they need to be let down gently and she knew how to do that. That show is just not the same without Paula. I realize this is Simon’s show, but Fox should have turned this decision down. This show is too new to be making such a big decision. As with American Idol, it takes a while for a new show to catch on. Paula definitely don’t let something like this bring you down. You have always came out on top and you will again. It is all about attitude. As far as Simon’s attitude, it needs to change too. Sooner or later the public will get tired of his attitude. I know I have. I am done watching both shows. Nice going! PAULA THE FANS LOVE YOU!!!!!!
