Blake Shelton Says Country Music Will Win The Voice Season Two

February 06, 2012 02:00 PM by Ashley Lee

On last night’s season premiere of The Voice, country music star Blake Shelton recruited the very first blind auditionee, RaeLynn, onto his team. Is she the eventual winner of the entire NBC talent competition? It’s too early to tell, but Shelton is incredibly confident that a country music singer will win the show’s second season!

“There are some country singers that are really good,” said Shelton to People. “We had a few last year but we didn’t end up with a country singer in the final four.”

Shelton coached pop singer Dia Frampton to the final episode in the show’s first season, which means he didn’t get to mentor a country singer all the way to the end. He also explains that even if he isn’t a country singer’s coach this season, he’s still ultimately rooting for country music!

“I know anything can happen,” he says, “but I really believe in my heart that one of several country singers that we have on our show this year have a shot at winning the whole thing.”

Notice that he said several country singers, and only one has been revealed so far…hopefully he’ll collect a few more before the blind auditions end!

Will Blake Shelton coach the winner of The Voice? Or will Adam Levine be triumphant for two seasons in a row?
