Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol, was extremely nervous going into the Superbowl last night, as Kelly had to pull off singing the National Anthem. While it may not seem like a daunting task, many stars have flubbed it in the past, including FOX‘s American Idol judge, Steven Tyler, as well as The Voice coach, Christina Aguilera. Kelly Clarkson however, pulled it off flawlessly, despite how nervous she may have been. More after the jump!

American Idol‘s very first winner, Kelly Clarkson went into the Superbowl last night extremely nervous as she was set to sing the National Anthem. Kelly took to Twitter after the game, where she posted: “Guess what ….I’ve never been more nervous in my life than singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl tonight ….wow that was almost not fun I was so nervous! Fun night overall though! Thank you everybody for all of the nice things you’re saying about my performance! I really appreciate it.”

Wow, if Kelly Clarkson was nervous, we sure couldn’t tell by her performance because she was amazing! After the show, some stars took to Twitter to let Kelly know just how great she was. Jason Aldean and Josh Groban were among those praising Kelly Clarkson, and even Pink shared her thoughts as she posted: “Kelly Clarkson KiLleD the national anthem. Show em’ how it’s done girl!!!!” Did you miss Kelly Clarkson’s awesome performance? If so, you can check it out on Kelly Clarkson’s website.

It would have been great if they actually showed her! You saw her for 5 seconds at the start and 5 seconds at the end. LAME , LAME!

I don’t have enough words to describe just how much I HATE “interpretations” of “The Star Spangled Banner” like the one Kelly Clarkson did. This is our national anthem and is just fine. I really am not interested in “artistic interpretations” of this song. Sing it as written. Period.

I thought she was awful. Miranda Lambert and he husband were just as bad. Where did all the good singers go?

I think she did great. As did the choir of well composed children behind her! They had nerves of steel just as she appeared to have. I was very moved. It is not an easy song to sing! It requires great vocal range and in front of a crowd that big and broadcast all over the world and forever on the internet feeds, it IS daunting (in spite of what the writer of this article may have you believe.) Here’s a tip to all future celeb’s who try to perform the piece – don’t “perform it.” SING it…from your soul. And it also helps to have music or a choir behind you…
