Paula Abdul along with Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger were recently fired from FOX‘s The X Factor, leaving the world wondering why Simon Cowell would fire the three of them. In a recent statement however, Simon Cowell admitted that the firings came about because of him opening his big mouth. What happened? Read on to find out!
Simon Cowell is now speaking out about the big shakeup at The X Factor, and blames his high expectations and his mouth for the recent firings. Simon Cowell recently told Extra that he was forced to fire Steve Jones, Paula Abdul, and Nicole Scherzinger, admitting: “It’s only because I opened my big mouth and said we were going to get 20 million viewers. If I hadn’t said that, everybody would be saying the show was a huge success.”
While Simon Cowell says he was forced to make changes, he did note that he would have liked to keep Paula Abdul on, adding: “She was very gracious, and I said that to her. She understands it’s business; it’s never personal.” Simon made no mention of whether or not he would have chosen to keep Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones, he only mentioned that Nicole is not angry with him, but disappointed instead.
Simon Cowell also knocked down rumors of potential judges, claiming that Beyonce joining was “nonsense,” while Katy Perry could be “fun and feisty,” although he did not confirm anything. Who would Simon like to join him? Well, Mariah Carey for one, but Simon went to add of Mariah possibly joining the show: “you can’t expect someone who’s just had two kids to make the kind of commitment you would need on this show.”
