Whitney Houston was an idol to many contestants of FOX‘s American Idol, and whenever someone wanted to go big in a performance on the show, they would pull out one of her tunes, but very few could match her powerful vocals. After Whitney’s tragic death this weekend, Ryan Seacrest revealed that the show will pay tribute to the superstar this week! Read on for more…
Ryan Seacrest announced that American Idol will be paying tribute to Whitney Houston this week on their Hollywood episodes, since Whitney Houston had such an impact on the show’s hopefuls. Ryan revealed at last night’s Grammy Awards: “I can tell you now that I was on the phone with American Idol producers. We are trying to figure out how we can go in and obviously pay tribute to Houston in some way and acknowledge the impact that she had on popular singers, popular music and young singers that are trying to make it. So we’ll see.”
Although there were no details released of what we can expect, we know we can expect a tribute of some sort to Whitney Houston on both Wednesday and Thursday night of this week. Meanwhile, we heard Simon Cowell reveal that Whitney Houston was being considered for a judging spot on The X Factor, but Nigel Lythgoe also shared that she expressed interest in American Idol as well, as he wrote on Twitter: “What is even more shocking to me regarding the death of #Whitney is that only this Wednesday (February 8) she responded positively to mentoring on #Idol.”
How sad, we sure would have loved to watch such a superstar mentor the American Idol contestants! What are your thoughts on Whitney Houston’s tragic death? Comment and share them with us below!
