Brad Goreski is heading to the mens wear Fashion Week in Milan with longtime partner Gary Janetti! On tonight’s It’s A Brad, Brad World, it’s Brad’s first fashion show as a solo stylist (and not as an assistant to Rachel Zoe), and it’s Gary’s first fashion show ever. Even more so, he’s documenting his entire week for DETAILS Magazine. Will he be able to find a dress for Jessica Alba somewhere in Milan?
“I’ve never been to a fashion show, it will be a little bit weird for me because I’m used to being in control of everything,” says Gary. “It’ll be like Brad World and I’ll be his date.”
Packing for Fashion Week is the ultimate struggle though! “I plan on changing more times than Diana Ross on this trip!”
Once arriving at the hotel in Italy, Gary swears that the Italian concierge is hitting on him! Rightfully so, she’s absolutely gorgeous. And at their first fashion show for Neil Barrett, Gary can’t stop commenting on the clothes, the layout of the runway, everything. Who knew he’d take so well to the fashion world?
Day two in Milan is action-packed. Brad hits a showroom meeting with Brunello Cucinelli, and at the Calvin Klein show, Gary can’t find his seat (unfortunately it’s away from Brad, who’s sitting in the front row). The Ferragamo collection is absolutely breathtaking. “This, ladies and gentlemen, is how I think men should dress while on vacation.” Versace’s show is a retro field trip into the past, and also greets Donatella Versace herself after the show.
After running around to countless appearances and shows, Gary loves the excitement but is honest with himself: “I will have had enough of fashion by the time this week is over,” says Gary. Thankfully, Brad finds a contender for Jessica Alba’s premiere, but is anxious to find more.
Their last fashion show is for DSquared2. “It’s the only show that I feel like has a real sense of humor…a sense of joy,” comments Gary. After so many years of having Brad support Gary’s career, I’m excited to see that Gary is really taking the back seat quite well!
The episode closes with a heartfelt moment between Gary and Brad, at the end of all the chaos of Fashion Week. Even though Brad was afraid to bring him on this trip, and into his world altogether, it’s clearly paid off.
“Sitting there today, looking at you in the first row, I was so proud of you.” says Gary. “And on top of that, I get to go to these shows now! It’s such a gift for me, it’s so much fun.”
