American Idol Castoff Travis Orlando Goes Back To School

February 16, 2012 03:00 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on FOX‘s American Idol, we watched as Travis Orlando was cut from the competition. After getting some positive advice from one of the show’s camera women, the talented young man has decided to head back to school in an effort to better his life. Read on for the scoop…

This season on American Idol, saw returning hopeful, Travis Orlando audition for the show once again. Travis Orlando shared his sad tale of his mother walking out on his family, leaving his cancer ridden father to take care of him and his brother. And if that was not enough, Travis Orlando quit school, and his family was living in a shelter. Travis did not make it through Hollywood week last season, and he was cut this season as well. But thanks to some encouraging words from a camera woman, Travis Orlando has decided to go back to school, and finish his education!

According to TMZ.com, a camera woman at American Idol told Travis before he left: “You have lost so much. You don’t want to lose even more by not finishing school.” Travis Orlando, who desperately wanted to prove to his mother that he was not a low life, has taken those words to heart. Since leaving the show, Travis has enrolled in the Adult Learning Center at Lehman College in the Bronx, to earn his GED, and better his situation.

Kudos to Travis Orlando for taking a step in the right direction! Something tells us though, that this will not be the last time we see Travis on American Idol!
