Grant Wilson And Jason Hawes Speak Out On Grant’s Departure From Ghost Hunters

February 16, 2012 09:21 AM by Lisa Princ

Last night on Ghost Hunters, fans were shocked to tears as they learned that Grant Wilson would be leaving the hit series! Grant’s departure after founding TAPS nearly 20 years ago with Jason Hawes, left fans wondering what was going on. Could Grant be sick? Did he get fired? Is he having family issues? All of those are great questions, and both Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes spoke out today about the big news. Read on for more!

Grant Wilson’s departure announcement struck so many Ghost Hunters fans, that Grant took to Twitter in an effort to reassure his fans. Grant posted today letting everyone know that he is not sick or anything: “Thank you all for the kind words and support. I am happy and healthy. Here is the official statements; http://www.the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com.”

Meanwhile, on TAPS official site, Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes let everyone know that Grant was not fired, Ghost Hunters is not being canceled, nor was there any rift between Jason and Grant that caused this. However, the site does state: “Grant is looking forward to going back to school to pursue his interests in graphic design, as well as continue to actively pursue his passion for music and art.” They also reassured us that Grant will still remain a part of Taps, and no one will be taking his place on the show.

Jason Hawes, Grant’s friend and co-founder, issued this statement earlier today: “When Grant and I founded TAPS nearly 20 years ago, we never imagined that we would be able to make such an impact just by doing what we enjoy every day. I will miss working with Grant on a daily basis, and am indebted to the level of dedication and expertise he has brought to our field.

I can’t imagine having a better partner through it all – both on the show and off. Grant and I, along with our spouses and children, are all like one big family. While I fully support his decision to move on from the series, this longtime friendship – as well as our business partnership – will continue off-camera for years to come.”

Hopefully, that clears up any misconception that fans may be having. We will certainly miss seeing Grant Wilson, and we wish him all the best!

Ghost hunting is a draining field, as much as it brings education, awareness, it wears & tears on you & family. I retired from it, this last yr, 17 yrs plus. On to the next chapter, right Grant.. wishing you the best and then some.

I was suprised when Grant announced he was leaving. I love the way he and Jason play tricks on the rest of the team. I wish him well and I hope we’ll see him again on occasion. Maybe he will do some special appearances on the live events or something. Love ya lots, you’ll be missed.

Grant was the yin to Jason’s yang. It certainly will be different without him on the show. He soften Jason with his gentle and caring mannerism. I wish Grant the best life has to offer and I hope he returns for specials. Grant, you will be missed!

favorite scene with Grant was at the Cashtown Inn on the episode “Fear Cage” when he went up to his room to go to sleep. the little knickknack on the head of his bed moved and it was caught on video.

I was shocked and awed when Grant announced he was leaving. Since than the show feels fake, I’ve been watching it since it premiered and I have bought the seasons on DVD ex excepted the newer ones. I wish Grant all the happiness and continued succes. And I hope the show hasn’t gone fake like the claims say,you are single handily responsible for getting me interested in the paranormal.
