Grant Wilson’s Last Ghost Hunters Investigation Airs May 16

February 17, 2012 10:00 AM by Ryan Haidet

The shock that Grant Wilson is leaving Ghost Hunters is still strong for many fans of the show with some wondering if his real reason for the decision could be connected to his marriage.  Whatever the true explanation, Grant’s departure is not immediate because he will be sticking around to finish off a few more investigations with his final episode slated to air on Wednesday, May 16 at 9 p.m.  SyFy has also announced that Grant will be wrapping up his role with production “at some point next month.”  Read on to find out more and to watch video of Grant’s big announcement!

Speculation has been heavy as to Grant’s real reasons for leaving the show because he only cited stress when making his announcement.  While Grant and his long-time partner, Jason Hawes, put some rumors about his departure to rest with a post on the official TAPS site, there is one element many fans have noticed — his wedding ring was absent from Wednesday night’s episode.  If stress from the show has affected his marriage, it’s totally understandable that Grant wouldn’t want to dive into his personal affairs on national television.  On the other hand, Grant may have just left his wedding ring at home that day or forgot to put it back on leaving fans in a speculation frenzy.

Here’s how I look at it.  If he wanted us to know everything, Grant would have given more details in his reasoning during the episode or in his explanation online since the announcement was made public.  He clearly doesn’t want to go beyond what he’s revealed and I can respect that.

New episodes of Ghost Hunters return this April leading up to Grant’s final farewell on May 16.  But I’d be willing to bet it’s not his last episode ever because I expect him to return — at least — for the annual live Halloween investigations.

In case you missed it, here’s the moment Grant told the rest of the team he was leaving the show:

I was very disappointed with Grant’s final investigation…his leaving was hyped up so much and then the final show just fizzled out. What a shame. Nobody will ever be able to take his place. So now who will Jay investigate with? They can’t break up the great team of Steve & Tango, they are like Abbott and Costello of the paranormal. Amy is cool but in one of the commercials I thought I heard her say she is pregnant…so is she leaving next? I hope Jay won’t get stuck with whatshisname…the new guy…sorry dude. I hope they will bring back Chris or even better get Rob to help out. I think Rob from GHI was given a bad deal and left. Rob was an excellent investigator! But the bottom line is come back Grant!!!!!!
