As candles burn in memory of Whitney Houston outside the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, friends and family prepare to celebrate the life of the singer, as her funeral will take place later today. The funeral is by invite only, but luckily fans can catch the service for the Being Bobby Brown star, who passed away last weekend, on the internet. Read on for the details!
As friends and family gather today to celebrate and remember the life of Whitney Houston, who will be laid to rest in New Jersey, fans can also catch the service as it will be streamed online. Whitney Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, announced earlier in the week that The Associated Press will be the only video camera allowed inside at Saturday’s funeral in Newark. The Associated Press will stream the service on http://livestream.com/aplive. The services are set to begin around 9 am Pacific time/12 pm Eastern.
Despite all the rumors that Whitney’s family was trying to keep Bobby Brown from the funeral, sources say that Bobby will be in attendance, along with Kevin Costner, cousin Dionne Warwick, Ray J, Brandy, Alicia Keys, Tyler Perry, and CeCe Winans, who is Bobbi Kristina’s godmother. According to sources, Whitney Houston’s godmother, Aretha Franklin, as well as Stevie Wonder, are both set to sing tributes. Longtime mentor and friend of the superstar, Clive Davis, is set to speak at the service.
The family of Whitney Houston also attended a private memorial last night, where her godmother, Aretha Franklin said: “We will always remember her kindness, her grace, her smile and her dynamic performances. But she’s moved on up just a little bit higher now, and we don’t wonder where she is.” Following the service, Whitney Houston will be buried at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, next to her father, who passed away in 2003.
