It was a sad evening for fans of Ghost Hunters when Grant Wilson, co-lead investigator, announced he is leaving the show. But it was a huge night for the network because last Wednesday’s Ghost Hunters episode was the most-viewed since October 20, 2010. Just how solid was the show in the ratings books? Read on to find out!
SyFy reports the episode, which was the winter finale, scored season highs in both adults 18-49 (1.1 million) and adults 25-54 (1.2 million). The network also reports that it was the series’ best performance among adults 18-49 since October 5, 2011, and among adults 25-54 since October 27, 2010. The episode also reflected double-digit growth in both demos compared to the prior finale episode on December 7, 2011 (up 36% and 33%, respectively).
The hike in viewership was definitely connected to the biggest news story Ghost Hunters has ever experienced. In the conclusion to last Wednesday’s dramatic episode, Grant told the TAPS team he was leaving the show due to stress. But many fans speculate it may be connected to marital problems since his wedding ring was absent in the episode. Grant’s final investigation is slated to air on Wednesday, May 16. New episodes return in April.
