Survivor: One World — Kourtney Moon Has Cancer, Watched Premiere From Hospital Recovering From Surgery

Kourtney Moon’s game-ending injury during the first episode of Survivor: One World is nothing in comparison to what she’s battling now: Cancer. Remarkably, Kourtney was actually conducting all of her exit interviews last Thursday from the hospital as she recovered from surgery just a few days prior. To find out more about Kourtney’s condition, read on to see what she had to say.
Kourtney Moon: I had to get emergency surgery this week. They found a tumor in my abdomen and had to remove a few things. It was a pretty traumatic experience. My dad is in Afghanistan right now and my mom doesn’t live in Austin. So I was in the hospital the first couple of nights pretty much alone getting all of this information. And I’m deathly afraid of having my blood drawn, so that was like a huge ordeal in itself. I went through all these tests and I had these sneaking suspicions that something wasn’t right. Sure enough in the CAT scan and the sonogram they found this like grapefruit-sized tumor on my ovary. My worst-case scenario was that it was completely devouring my reproductive system. I would like to have a baby again. So that was a big thing. And then, of course, obvious reasons, I was hoping it wasn’t terminal or something crazy like that. But it was not benign, so I’m waiting back on some test results. But my surgeon is really optimistic that it’s not going to be a big problem.
Question: With you being in the hospital for the premiere, what was the atmosphere like there? Are you like a celebrity?
Kourtney Moon: Hahaha! No, I actually didn’t really tell many of the people that are caring for me right now. I didn’t tell anybody until they kind of walked in and were like, “Hey! What? Whoa! What? Hey!” They got a kick out of that. Two of my good friends were with me, and my ex-husband, and his new girlfriend, their baby and my son. We were all piled up in my hospital room watching the first episode. Of course, my ex-husband, even though we’re not together anymore, he could still poke fun at me and we all got a good laugh out of it.
Get well, Kourtney! We’re all hoping for the best!
