Real Housewives of New York City alum and Bethenny Ever After star Bethenny Frankel shocked us all when she revealed that she recently suffered from a miscarriage just eight weeks into her pregnancy. But in an interview with Andy Cohen on Bravo‘s Watch What Happens Live, the 41-year-old margarita maven brought another serious health issue to light. What else went wrong as Frankel was trying to physically and emotionally recover from the loss of her unborn baby? Find out after the jump.
“As a result of that experience [the miscarriage], I was on an antibiotic Doxycycline,” Bethenny explained to Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen on Monday’s (February 20) show. “I took it at night without any water, went to bed and it burned a hole in my esophagus.”
“I have a hole in my heart and my esophagus,” said Frankel. “But it’s okay — I’m feeling good. I wouldn’t be drinking a Skinnygirl Margarita if I weren’t feeling good.”
Hours earlier, however, when Bethenny broke the news of her miscarriage to Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, she clearly wasn’t feeling as good, choking back tears as she announced, “We were pregnant with a second baby, and at eight weeks, I miscarried.”
Since her tragic loss, Frankel – mom to 21-month-old daughter Bryn Hoppy – says that she’s been struggling to make sense of everything that’s happened.
“There are so many…things that come with [miscarrying]” she shared. “You go through a roller coaster of emotions…About your age, about being a woman, about, can you have another baby, are you a failure to your partner? You go through a million different things.”
Good luck to Bethenny and Jason as they cope with their loss.
