What a rewarding episode for It’s A Brad, Brad World fans: Brad Goreski styles Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell, collects inspiration from Ferragamo’s fashion show, presents at a Trevor Project event and gets to see his work in proofs from InStyle and Details magazine. Read on for the full recap!
First, Gary and Brad invite a dog trainer in to keep their dog Penelope under control. “I encourage Penelope’s barking because I feel like she’s talking to me,” confesses Brad to the cameras. “She makes so many cute noises!”
Brad, Lindsay and styling assistant Thomas prepare the studio for a fitting with Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell who needs a look for the MuchMusic Video Awards. The clothing racks are filled with leather vests and sparkling dresses, which Brad are hoping to combine for a rock ‘n’ roll outfit. However, Shay is turning down a ton of white cocktail dresses and cites that she’s already worn looks similar to Brad’s other picks for past events.
“There’s definitely a fine line between tasteful and tasteless,” teaches Brad. “Should you veer off it, your client lands on the worst dressed list.” After multiple bad outfits, Shay settles on a corset dress with feathers, complete with a leather vest and a studded clutch. “I think it’s the most anxiety ridden job that anyone can have,” reflects Brad. “Actually, no, heart surgery might be a little bit more.”
Whoa Nelly Catering comes to Brad and Gary’s house to hold a tasting for their upcoming anniversary party, but Gary’s palate is incredibly particular: he only likes the breast of the chicken, he doesn’t like mayonnaise and he doesn’t want anything that seems cheap. ”People have a really good time when the food is good at a party, I don’t know why more people don’t get that!” Gary urges.
Lindsay finally asks Brad if he’s comfortable having her as a paid employee, but Brad reassures her that they’re figured out a payment system in place. “I don’t think I would be able to cope without you here,” he tells her. After Brad and Gary land in New York, he also has a lunch date with a fellow stylist Danielle and shares that his book, Born to Be Brad, has been sold, and that he’s unsatisfied with the amount of work that isn’t coming in from his agency. They head to the Ferragamo show together, but has to stop for shots from the paparazzi. “Thank god I’m wearing my navy blue wide leg pants today!”
Brad and Gary head to an event for The Trevor Project, and Brad wears a “short suit” covered in tiny black bows. Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir also shows up in one, but Brad says, “I have to say: I wore it best!”
Brad finally gets to see magazine mock-ups of his feature for InStyle and his 12-page color story for Details, and they’re both huge hits that humble him as he sits in those high-rise NYC buildings and staring at his work in some of the top fashion magazines. “I never, ever, ever lose sight of the fact that what is happening is really special, and I hope I never do,” says Brad. “It’s just overwhelming when your dreams become reality.”
Tune in next week for the season finale, including Brad and Gary’s anniversary party!
