Mario Lopez is the host of the entertainment show, Extra and a former contestant of ABC’s TV series Dancing with the Stars. The former Saved by the Bell star recently hosted a party at the Pool After Dark inside Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City where he dished about his recent engagement to Courtney Mazza, the upcoming season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and what he loves about his job!
While flying to the East Cast, Lopez shared via Twitter that Cameron Diaz was on his flight. He said he’s been very lucky to sit with lots of other stars in the sky.
“I’ve been so fortunate to sit next to the most fascinating people. Cameron Diaz on this flight, I sat next to Ricky Gervais on my last flight, the one before that I sat next to Paula Abdul–right before The X Factor change-up happened. There’s always somebody; Julia Roberts not that long ago; it’s just pretty interesting. I wish I could plan it that way but it just happens; I’m just lucky I guess.”
The TV personality proposed to Courtney Mazza, his long-time girlfriend and the mother of his two-year-old-daughter Gia, over New Year’s weekend. He says they’re trying to plan the wedding this year.
“I think it’s towards the end of the year. We’re trying to work it out with work but we want to do it towards December I think.”
His hosting gig on Extra has provided him with amazing opportunities to interview many stars.
“I’m very blessed to be doing it. I get to meet amazing people and have fun everyday and it’s always different. Right now, we’re in the middle of awards season so I got the Oscars around the corner and that’s really cool, I’m looking forward to that.”
Next month, a new season of America’s Best Dance Crew is scheduled to debut on MTV and Lopez says it’s going to be a spectacular season with lots of talented groups.
“We’re heading into season seven and we start in April. Awesome talent we got–it’s supposed to be the best yet so it’s going to be really cool.”
Despite Lopez’s busy schedule, he’s hoping his reality series, H8R returns for another season. The show featured regular people sending in recorded video rants about celebrities they didn’t like and then the celebrities surprised them with a visit in an attempt to win them over.
“I think it’s going to be coming back again this summer but we’re waiting to see. I got a lot on my plate so I’m just trying to focus on finishing it up.”
