Adam Brock kicked off American Idol tonight with his emotional breakdown. Randy Jackson told Adam that he could feel the joy from Adam, while Steven Tyler told Adam that he loves to see a man cry, and then delivered the news that Adam would be moving on to the top 24.
Jeremy Rosado was up next for his fate, and he reflected on his journey, and the amazing friendships that he made. Last night, Jeremy gave a powerful performance, leaving the judges speechless. After walking the green mile, Jeremy Rosado was praised by Jennifer Lopez for his kindness, and then given the news that he would be moving on to the top 24, but would his friends make it through?
As the spots were shrinking, 16-year-old Shannon Magrane worried whether or not she would get a spot in the top 24. Steven Tyler told Shannon that he thought she was Idol material from the start, and she took the next top 24 spot. Returning hopeful, Scott Dangerfield was up next to hear his fate. Scott admitted his flaws to the judges tonight, but Jennifer Lopez told him that she has not felt the same about him as she did last season, and he was let go.
A few more were let go before we watched a nervous Skylar Laine await her fate. Randy Jackson told Skylar she has been consistent thus far, and she reminds him of a little Reba McEntire. Skylar impressed the judges enough for her spot in the top 24. Hallie Day, Chase Likens, and Aaron Marcellus were all given the news that they would be moving into the top 24.
Deandre Brackensick was up next to hear his fate, and he was nervous with good reason, he was sent home after the green mile walk last season. As Deandre started to well up with tears, Jennifer Lopez told him that they would be crazy not to let him into the top 24. Jermaine Jones was another one in tears, hoping not to disappoint his mother. Randy told Jermaine that he was one of the most different performers that they had seen, but he would not be moving on.
Ariel Sprague, Shelby Tweeten, and Hollie Cavanagh took the final walk together, as one of the ladies would be moving forward and the other two would not. It was a tough decision for the judges, and Hollie Cavanagh was the final girl to make the top 24.
David Leathers and Eben Franckewitz were heading in to hear their fate as only one spot remained for the guys. Unfortunately for David Leathers it was the end of the road. Eben Franckewitz made it through, but in a surprise twist, another guy will be added on Tuesday, making it 13 guys this season.
These ten contestants will join Jen Hirsch, Creighton Fraker, Joshua Ledet, Haley Johnson, Elise Testone, Reed Grimm, Chelsea Sorrell, Baylie Brown, Heejun Han, Jessica Sanchez, Colton Dixon, Phillip Phillips, Brielle Von Hugel, and Erika Van Pelt.
