If you thought you’ve seen the claws come out in past seasons of America’s Next Top Model think again! Cycle 18 premiered tonight on the CW with a brand new twist, packed with lots of drama. Seven girls from the United States are up against seven girls from the United Kingdom. The 14 models walk the runway and pose as famous public figures. Keep reading to find out which models make it through to round two!
Former contestants from “Britain’s Next Top Model” and an all-new crop of American model hopefuls are competing for the grand prize. The girls from America are Laura, Azmarie, Eboni, Kyle, Mariah, Candace and Seymone. The United Kingdom models include Alisha, Louise, Catherine, Annaliese, Sophie, Jasmia and Ashley.
For their first task, the models are paired together and have to strut their stuff on the runway. Later they move into the ANTM mansion. The UK girls are together in one half of the house and the US girls are together in the other half. The stakes are high as the models are all vying for a spread in Italian Vogue, a celebrity hosting gig with Extra and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics.
In the first photo shoot of the season, the women compete against one-another posing as famous British and American public figures. Catherine and Azmarie pose as Queen Elizabeth I and George Washington.
Eboni and Ashley must channel Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Princess Diana. Candace takes on Alisha and the two must portray Janet Jackson and Mel B. Laura takes on Annaliese doing their best to channel Madonna and Elton John.
Seymone goes up against Sophie and both try to embody Margaret Thatcher and Michelle Obama. Kyle is paired against Louise portraying Andy Warhol and Amy Winehouse. Mariah and Jasmia do their best to represent Pocahontas and John Lennon.
The judge’s panel includes Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker, Kelly Cutrone and guest judge Kelly Osborne. After reviewing the photographs, Seymone is chosen as the model with the best photo this week and Kyle is the runner-up. The judges come to the conclusion that Jasmia didn’t capture John Lennon in her photo therefore she is sent home.
