This week on FOX‘s American Idol, we watched the top 13 guys and the top 12 girls perform, and tonight it was judgment time! After all the votes were tallied, the top 13 finalists were revealed. Read on to find out if your favorite made it!
American Idol was back tonight with the live results after this week’s performances. Ryan Seacrest announced that tonight the top 13 would be revealed. America’s votes would determine the top 5 girls, and the top 5 guys, and then the judges would get to pick one contestant each for their wild card choice. Jeremy Rosado, Phillip Phillips, and Chase Likens were called up to the stage first, and it was Phillip Phillips that made it into the top 10.
Focus then turned to the ladies as Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanaugh, Brielle Von Hugel, and Hallie Day were called up next. America chose to send Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanaugh to the top 10! Who would be joining them? Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, and Adam Brock were up next to hear their fate. Ryan asked Heejun if he was taking the competition seriously, and he assured us he was. Luckily for Heejun Han, America loved him as both he and Joshua Ledet made the top 10.
Baylie Brown, Skylar Laine, Chelsea Sorrell, and Shannon McGrane took the stage next. After your votes last night, country girls Shannon Magrane and Skylar Laine earned their spot in the top 10. Up next were Reed Grimm, Aaron Marcellus, and Creighton Fraker, who got their review, and Jimmy Iovine said he did not agree with the judges about Creighton. America agreed with Jimmy, and none of these three were in the top 10. Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Haley Johnson, and Jen Hirsch were called up next, and it was Elise Testone that won America over!
Deandre Brackensick, Colton Dixon, Jermaine Jones, and Eben Franckewitz would be fighting for the final two spots for the top 10 guys. Deandre was told that he did not make it, but Colton Dixon and Jermaine Jones did make the top 10. The judges then had to decide which six contestants they wanted to sing one last time, in effort to win the wild card spot.
Randy announced that Jen Hirsch would sing first for her life, and she took on the Beatles Oh Darling. It was beautiful and the judges loved it. Next up was Jeremy Rosado, which was not a shock, as he probably should have been in the top 10. Jeremy gave us his rendition of I Know You Won’t by Carrie Underwood, and it was fantastic and heartfelt. Jeremy and Jennifer Lopez were tearing up after his performance, and the judges loved his performance.
Brielle Von Hugel was up next and took on Adele’s Someone Like You, and it was very pitch-y. The judges told her she was in trouble, and it was not great. Deandre Brackensick was next up to sing for his life. Deandre chose to sing Georgia On My Mind, and it was definitely a strong performance by this kid. Deandre was praised by the judges, and the crowd roared for him.
Erika Van Pelt was the final lady to take the stage, and Erika gave us her rendition of Lady Gaga’s The Edge Of Glory and she blew it away! I would love to see her in the top 13, but would the judges agree. Randy commented that Erika was singing like “she’s got to have it,” and Steven said she hit it out of the park. Reed Grimm was the final guy to take the stage with Use Me by Bill Withers and it was a rocking performance that had the crowd going wild. Randy told Reed that he was the most different contestant they had seen, but would he make it through?
Randy Jackson revealed that his wild card pick was Erika Van Pelt – very well deserved and a smart choice! Jennifer Lopez was up next with her wild card pick – Jeremy Rosado – we knew that was coming after the tear-fest! Steven Tyler had the last pick of the night, and as the crowd chanted for Reed, Steven revealed his wild card was actually Deandre Brackensick.
