Katy Perry, who recently split from Russell Brand, has recently released a new tune titled Part of Me, that left fans wondering if it was written about the couple. Now, the pop star who has appeared numerous times on American Idol, insists the song was not written about Russell Brand. Read on to hear what Katy Perry had to say!
Katy Perry’s new hit Part of Me certainly fits her current situation as it includes lyrics such as: “You can keep the diamond ring,” and “It don’t mean nothing anyway,” but Katy insists it was not written about Russell Brand. In fact, the pop star known for donning blue hair, told MTV News recently: “I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everybody is like ‘God, it sounds so current.’ I wrote it two years ago when I was writing and recording Teenage Dream, but it didn’t feel right on the record.”
Fans may feel that the timing of the song is ironic, and Katy Perry agrees. The star went on to say: “Sometimes I’m like, ‘Am I living in The Truman Show? What’s going on?’ It just feels like sometimes I’m caught in this movie where my life is paralleling my music! It seems very serendipitous, but, I prepare for everything. I’m overly prepared and kind of a control freak in the best of ways.” Meanwhile, Katy revealed that some people were encouraging her to lie and say that she just wrote the song, but she refuses to lie to her fans.
