Donald Trump may have fired George Takei on the last episode of NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice, but the Star Trek legend has already rebounded with a job offer from daytime talk host and former American Idol judge, Ellen DeGeneres. What’s Takei going to be doing on Ellen? Keep reading for all the details.
“I had a very unique firing,” George Takei tells Access Hollywood‘s Kit Hoover and guest co-host Chris Harrison of his stint on the NBC reality show. “Everybody loved me, they respected me, and I’m not with The Celebrity Apprentice anymore, however Ellen DeGeneres liked me and she’s hired me.”
Hired him to do what exactly? From the sound of it, George is making a move from the boardroom to a position in the retail sector.
“What I’m doing for Ellen, is I’m selling her products — her T-shirts, mugs and shorts — men and women,” the former Star Trek actor explains of his upcoming daytime gig.
“[I'm selling] to her audience there, going up and down the aisle. So, I am still gainfully employed.”
As for his recent firing on Celebrity Apprentice….
“I still maintain that we had the classier window,” says Takei. “We had an elegant, glamorous show window and I think the women had a much messier — a very busy two windows. We had a visually clean, elegant show window. We were 5th Avenue and they were 34th Street.”
