Tabatha Coffey is always preaching about the importance of education, but what happens when it’s the teachers at the beauty college itself that need to be schooled on basic hairstyling techniques? Get the highlights of this all new episode of Bravo‘s Tabatha Takes Over after the jump.
This week on Tabatha Takes Over….
Dr. Flavio opened his beauty college 53 years ago, but in recent years, the school has fallen on hard times, making it difficult for the good doctor to keep up with the payments on his home.
Can Tabatha save the entire school before Dr. Flavio loses his home to foreclosure?
The school currently has less than 200 students enrolled, and needs over 500 to make a profit, but Dr. Flavio’s daughter, Tiana, is struggling to manage the business, not knowing anything about how to do hair herself.
There’s no curriculum, no rules, no structure, and the teachers – like Mr. P – don’t know much about technique (and that’s putting it mildly).
Gotta love Dr. Flavio. And by the way, Tabatha LOVES Dr. Flavio. Not something that you see very often on the show.
For a bit of a reality check, Tabatha helps Dr. Flavio pack an overnight bag and heads to his daughter, Tiana’s house, letting her know that he’s going to be staying there for a few days, so she understands that if things don’t change at the school, she’s going to have a new roommate.
As with most other salons, what the people at Dr. Flavio’s need is education. But where do you go to educate the educators? The master — Paul Mitchell Schools, of course. It’s there that Tiana is inspired to do all she can to carry-on her father’s legacy with pride, and the teachers – even Mr. P – learn some valuable lessons as well.
Their first day back at the new and improved Dr. Flavio’s, all of the instructors are putting their skills to good use. Tiana, eager to take the college to a new level, is hoping to learn some skills of her own, and surprises Tabatha by letting her know that she’s going to attempt to get her license, so she’s better equipped to run the business.
Six weeks later, attendance is up, and Dr. Flavio’s seems to be well on its way to (hopefully) another 53 years.
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?!
