Million Dollar Listing New York: Exclusive Interview With Ryan Serhant

March 07, 2012 10:01 AM by Martha Zaborowski

Million Dollar Listing New York premieres tonight on Bravo, and Reality TV Magazine recently spoke with one of the stars of the show, Ryan Serhant. You may have already heard of Ryan Serhant—and not just because he’s one of the most successful real estate brokers in New York City (ranked #16 by The Real Deal Magazine), but also because he has Sonja Morgan of The Real Housewives of New York City gushing about him. She calls him “adorable” and says she’s “…crazy about him!” What does Ryan have to say about the rumors surrounding him and Sonja? Keep reading for what Ryan has to reveal about Million Dollar Listing New York, his castmates, and what has made him such a successful realtor at only 27 years old.

RTVM: What can you tell us about Million Dollar Listing New York? How is it different from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles?

Ryan Serhant: It’s a very fast-paced show showcasing some of the most exclusive properties and interesting people of New York City. The types of properties and the clientele are different from the LA-based version because New York is such a unique city. New York is truly an international city, with clients all over the world coming in and wanting a piece of New York.  We have to adapt our schedules for our international clients, so it’s like we’re working 24/7.

Exclusive! Chad Rogers of Million Dollar Listing talks to Reality TV Magazine!

RTVM: How did you become involved in real estate?

Ryan Serhant: I started working part-time while still acting; but once I made my first deal, I was addicted.  I have been working for Net Seekers International ever since.

RTVM: How did you become involved in Million Dollar Listing NY?

One of Bravo’s casting directors contacted Net Seekers’ CEO, Eddie Shapiro, about potential candidates for the show.

RTVM: There was a report in RealityTea.com that you were not originally cast on the show, but your business associate Caroline Grane was. What is your comment on that?

Ryan Serhant: I have no comment on it because I don’t know what happened.

RTVM: Your castmates are Fredrick Eklund and Michael Lorber. How would you describe them in a few words?

Ryan Serhant: I don’t know them very well, but I would describe them both as competitive and very smart.

RTVM: And how would you describe yourself in a few words?

Ryan Serhant: Fun, aggressive, and…adorable. (laughs)

RTVM: Sonja Morgan calls you adorable.  You told RumorFix.com that “any guy would be lucky to date the beautiful and glamorous Sonja Morgan” and you were “becoming really great friends.” What is the status of your relationship now?

Ryan Serhant: I can neither confirm nor deny a relationship with Sonja at this point.

RTVM: Since you’re a successful realtor living in New York, have you met any other Bravo TV personalities in NYC?

Ryan Serhant: I know Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon. They wished me well and gave me advice about being on TV.

RTVM: How did you become so successful in real estate at such a young age?

Ryan Serhant: It comes down to hard work. I’m always working—that means I don’t go to the Hamptons on the weekend; I’m in the office. I’ve had to make some personal life sacrifices, but it’s been worth it.

Ryan tells us that Million Dollar Listing is different from other real estate programs in that it shows the “human face of real estate. It’s not just about the transactions; it’s about the emotions behind people buying and selling real estate in New York.” Watch the ambitious and adorable Ryan Serhant on Million Dollar Listing New York on Wednesday, March 7, at 10/9 pm on Bravo.

Ryan Serhant is the biggest jerk out of the Listings NYC crew, even his employees don’t like him… he’s so not suave, LAME is more like it!

All of them on this show are full of themselves and greeeeedy! Ryan, makes me ill. He’s well, awful. The Swedish dude is no different and the little round boy whose Daddy is like head of NY real estate? Now that little boy needs to go back to the kindergarten he just walked out of. Dislike the show because of the brokers/agents. Ick!

I think he should be casted as Christian Grey.

Okay, how many of you people who visit this site, or others like it, are real estate agents who can easily say the same thing about your work ethic but have no where near arrived so much so called success?

Ryan is the one agent featured on Million Dollar Listing, in either L.A. or NYC, that so little is known about. All the others come from well to do pampered lives that have allowed them to get where they are, and it is guaranteeable that if they hadn’t come from such pampered, silver spoon upbringings, with family connections, they wouldn’t be where they are.

I don’t hate the characters, although they can definitely be arrogant turds at times, however the show is amusing. The thing that bothers me is the fact that it’s like watching a millionaire hit the lottery. They’re spoiled little rich kids and the show is just promoting them and building them up more. Why not feature some real estate agents who came from nowhere, regular lives, and achieved success on their own instead of ones who’s parents are millionaires and give them every break possible?

Ryan was supposedly born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Topsfield, Massachusetts, but that’s all that’s shown. I’d be willing to bet there’s money involved somewhere, Houston oil money?
