American Idol Recap: Top 13 Live Results

March 08, 2012 07:04 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on FOX‘s American Idol, the top 13 finalists took the stage with songs by Stevie Wonder and the late Whitney Houston. With stellar performances from both the guys and the girls, who impressed enough to win America’s votes? And who was sent packing? Read on to find out!

American Idol kicked off the live results show tonight as Ryan Seacrest announced that your votes would give us a one guy and one gal in the bottom two, and for the only week this season, the judges would be choosing which one of them would be sent packing. Before we saw any results, the top 13 gave us a soulful performance of Stevie Wonder’s As and we watched their very first Ford music video. Jimmy Iovine expressed how difficult pulling off Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder was for the contestants, and then Ryan called Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanaugh, and Jessica Sanchez to the stage. Jessica and Hollie were safe, but Elise was the first in the bottom three girls tonight.

Heejun Han, Colton Dixon, and Jermaine Jones were up next to hear their fate. Both Heejun and Colton were sent to safety, while Jermaine was the first of the bottom three guys. Lauren Alaina was up next with a rocking performance of Georgia Peaches. Erika Van Pelt, Shannon Magrane, and Skylar Laine were then on the stage for their results, and Erika Van Pelt was the second girl to head to the bottom three, followed by Shannon Magrane.

Deandre Brackensick, Jeremy Rosado, Phillip Phillips, and Joshua Ledet got their results next. Phillip Phillips and Deandre Brackensick were sent to safety, while Jeremy and Joshua joined Jermaine in the bottom three. Then, Ryan Seacrest told Joshua and Erika that they were safe in a sneaky way, and they didn’t get it at first – and that is why Ryan Seacrest is the best in the business! Mary J. Blige took the stage next with a performance of her latest single Why, and it was awesome, leaving the crowd roaring for more.

Ryan Seacrest was back as he announced that both Jeremy Rosado and Elise Testone were the bottom two contestants tonight, but it was up to the judges to decide which one would be heading home. Jennifer Lopez revealed that they would be saving Elise Testone, which meant that Jeremy Rosado was going home! Best of luck to Jeremy Rosado, and keep an eye out for our elimination interview with Jeremy Rosado tomorrow.
