This week on FOX‘s American Idol, the top 13 finalists took the stage with songs by Stevie Wonder and the late Whitney Houston. While we saw many great performances, none were as impressive as Jessica Sanchez’s rendition of I Will Always Love You, which surprised even Jessica herself. Check out what Jessica had to say about her performance below…
American Idol‘s Jessica Sanchez had the best performance this week as she took on Whitney Houston’s power ballad, I Will Always Love You. While the judges gave her a standing ovation, Jessica Sanchez admitted that she didn’t even realize what was going on as she told Life & Style Magazine: “It was really surreal. I can’t even take it in right now because it’s all so crazy. I just ended my song, and everyone stood up. I was like, ‘What is going on right now? Where am I? Am I here?’”
While Jessica Sanchez’s performance awed the judges and fans alike, Jessica really enjoyed singing one of Whitney Houston’s songs as she added: “She was one of the artists I grew up listening to. She pretty much taught me how to sing.” And Jessica, like many fans, was saddened to hear of Whitney’s passing: “When I was singing, I just thought of her. Her passing was something that touched me and hurt me a lot. It really hit me.”
