The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Recap: Anniversary Party Drama

March 11, 2012 07:25 PM by Megan Thompson

Tonight on Bravo it’s an all new episode of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. Last week Kim was upset with Kandi, this week she is at her wits end with Sweetie! Kim is ready to fire her assistant/smoking buddy. Plus, Phaedra has her first embalming lesson. Keep reading for all the details from tonight’s RHOA episode.

Kim belts out Sweetie’s name (SWEETIIIIEEEE) as she is trying to clean out the garage.  Kim, her dad and Sweetie are all tackling the enormous task of cleaning out the garage. Sweetie just keeps on saying, “This is hard labor work, I’m calling Clark Howard.”  I guess Clark Howard is a local news guy that you call when you’re being mistreated.  Kim blows off Sweetie’s threats and complaints, because she feels Sweetie just doesn’t want to do any work.  Kim barks, “I have done more work right now than you have done in two weeks.”  Kim then gives Sweetie a jewelry box to put away.  When Sweetie takes too long to put away the jewelry, Kim suspects that she is off having a cigarette break.  Kim’s suspicions were correct and Sweetie starts running away from Kim like a two year old.  “I would have fired her ass a long time ago,” Kim’s dad whispers.

It’s our favorite wannabe funeral director, Phaedra. Phaedra is excited to go to her first embalming lesson. ”I can’t wait to get my hands on a real body,” Phaedra says way too enthusiastically. Phaedra  is extremely disappointed when she finds out she will only be working a dummy today.   Phaedra proceeds to cut, drain and stitch up the dummy like a pro.  I hope the cameras aren’t rolling when she gets to work on a real body.

Peter is busy planning his big (low budget) one year anniversary party. Cynthia is curious about the party, especially if they are still within the budget they had set. Peter informs Cynthia that he needs to “borrow” some money from her.  Cynthia, do you need any more red flags?  Peter then explains to Cynthia, ”To please the type of people we roll with we have to do it a certain way. If it’s not what they expect from you and I then it’s going to look crazy.”  Hey Peter – maybe you shouldn’t be “rolling” with these people if you can’t afford to!

Cynthia and her sister, Malorie, are hanging out in the kitchen.  Malorie is curious about the whole engagement party and how much money Cynthia is spending on it.  Immediately, Cynthia defends the party and her husband. When Cynthia tells Malorie she can’t ride in the limo to the party, Malorie isn’t pleased.  I think someday Malorie is going to be able to tell her sister, “I told you so.”

Bryson just got out of jail, so NeNe and Greg try to have a serious talk with him.  “I rely on Greg for these types of things,” NeNe tells the cameras.  NeNe is scared when the divorce is finalized Greg won’t help with Bryson anymore.  NeNe is more than over her son’s bad behavior.  “Go find a job, get outta here,” NeNe tells Bryson.

It’s the big (budget-friendly) anniversary party.  Talk about karma, the limo Peter planned is a no-show. Maybe Malorie cancelled it?  Peter and Cynthia actually have to drive their own car to the party.  Do you feel sorry for them?

Cynthia is primping in a room upstairs, while the party is happening downstairs.  Even Marlo has showed up, with a new man, for this event.  Finally Cynthia’s sister and mother go upstairs to drag Cynthia down to the party.  “We never thought you would make it a year,” Cynthia’s mom tells her daughter.  Malorie and her mom are both “shocked”, like the rest of us, that they made it to this one year anniversary.  Again, Cynthia defends her man to her mother and her sister.  “You run your marriage the way you want to, I’m running my marriage the way I want it. I got this,” Cynthia tells her sister.

Peter whistles, yes whistles, at his black tie event to get the attention of all the guests.  Wouldn’t it have been more appropriate to clink your glass?  Cynthia makes her grand entrance down a large staircase, like she is Miss America.

By the time that Sheree arrives to the party(over two hours late) the people at the party look absolutely miserable. The guests are probably starving because Peter didn’t want to spend a lot of money on food.  But don’t worry Sheree is there to stir up some trouble.  Sheree tells Lawrence about the derogatory term Marlo used about gay people in Africa. When Lawrence asks Marlo about the incident, Marlo flat out denies ever saying it.  Wow! Is Marlo lying or did she really forget what she said?

Peter than interrupts the party to make a toast.  Peter makes it clear that he wants everyone there, except Malorie. Malorie calls Peter an asshole and storms out. Cynthia then tells Malorie, “this is my life, live your life.”  The fight between the sisters escalates and Malorie begins to cry.  “Stop sticking up for him,” Malorie cries to her sister.
