Million Dollar Listing New York Recap: You’re Stressing Me Out

March 14, 2012 08:33 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on Bravo‘s Million Dollar Listing New York, we watched the season premiere and met the new agents. This week the guys continue their quest to sell their hearts out, and it takes its toll on all three of them! Read on for all the highlights!

Million Dollar Listing New York kicked off tonight as we learned that Michael has a clothing fetish, and somehow his choice in sweaters was strikingly familiar – could he be Josh Flagg’s long lost brother? Michael got a new co-listing this week for a new building on Park Avenue that donned windows all around, and boasted panoramic views of the city. Michael was excited as he got to do his very first broker’s open on his own, and he went all out with a harp player and massage chairs, offering massages to the brokers! The question was though – could he sell?

Meanwhile, Ryan’s quest to sell the apartment that belonged to the hoarder continued. In what was the dumbest move ever, Adriana, the hoarder, locked her closet completely leaving Ryan unable to open it so potential buyers could view it. Really, who does that? Considering that was one of the focal points to sell the home, it was a silly move and cost her a good sale. Ryan did manage to get some offers, but they were a lot lower than he wanted, so he decided to call some French brokers that he knew and made them think they were getting an exclusive deal when he told them he was lowering the price, and that they knew before anyone else!

Fresh off his sale from last week, Fredrik met with another client tonight on Million Dollar Listing New York. Claudia and her family were looking to sell their 4500-square foot Soho apartment, but Fredrik was turned off by the outdated kitchen. This client was demanding as she insisted that he sell it for at least $7 million, despite the fact that similar listings were going for about $6 million and this one had an outdated kitchen. Fredrik brought in multiple potential buyers, but no one wanted to pay that much.

Fredrik tried to reason with Claudia on the phone about the price, but this gal was having no part of it. Fredrik decided it would be better to meet with her in person. Fredrik tried to plead with her to reduce the price, explaining that no one was going to pay that much, even with an updated kitchen. Claudia absolutely refused to give in and Fredrik was stressed out big time. Fredrik told her that he could not sell the place for as much as she wanted, and explained in detail why it would not sell for that much –  hoping to get her to lower the price, but instead she fired him!

We also saw two completely different dates tonight on Million Dollar Listing New York. Michael’s family set him up with a co-worker in what was the most awkward date ever. Michael was nervous, and although the pair appeared to have a nice time, I don’t think she will be back for a second date – can you say dork? Meanwhile, Ryan hooked up with a busty blonde and he couldn’t even remember her name. Luckily for him, she seemed to be only interested in sex, and after a quick few drinks, the pair left and headed to his place.

The next day, Ryan met up with his French brokers and they attempted to negotiate a deal for just under $4 million, but the buyer was not wanting to go over $3.7 million. Frustrated and stressed, Ryan called Adriana, who refused to go under $3.85 million, telling him to work harder for her. As the French brokers tried to low ball Ryan even more, he began to get angry and even yelled at them. Finally, when they came back with $3.8 million even, Ryan knew that he could not call Adriana back, so he offered that both brokers, including himself, take $25,000 off their commission to make the sale. The French brokers reluctantly agreed, and Ryan ended up with a $90k profit – not too shabby!

Michael ended his evening with an offer on the apartment, or so he thought. When he met with the buyer’s agent, she informed him that the buyer wanted the entire building, not just the one apartment. If he could not have the entire place, there was no deal. Michael then got on the phone to make sure all of the other apartments were available, but we were left hanging as to what happens next. You’ll have to tune in next week to find out!
