American Idol producers gave Jermaine Jones the boot this week after they learned that Jermaine had outstanding warrants. Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick recently said that they would have saved Jermaine Jones if was honest to begin with, but in a recent interview, Jermaine claims that he did not know he was breaking any of Idol’s guidelines.
Speaking to People Magazine, Jermaine said he was caught off guard by the meetings with Nigel and Ken, and that he thought he was in the clear prior as he explained: “They did have a question [in which you had to admit] that you were arrested, and that I did do. And they did an extensive background check. When I went home after my first elimination and then I went back, I thought, ‘they’ve done the research at this point.’ I was a little bit confused.”
Jermaine Jones, who has two outstanding warrants for giving a false name, one for a fight, and another for driving with suspended license, added that he did not know he was breaking any guidelines because he says: “before I went, I had to obtain a lawyer and take care of some fines before I could go. I just thought everything was taken care of.” Jermaine is currently working on an album, and while he knows some people will judge him, he said that he would like people to not be so quick to judge him because: “everyone has a past.”
