Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Cheryl Burke shows off her sophisticated side in this pretty purple sheath dress at the QVC New York Fashion Week runway show. This colorful dress is right on trend with bright colors infusing spring collections. Love her sexy, yet sophisticated look? We have rounded up similar items so you can replicate her ready-to-wear look.
Cheryl Burke is often seen wearing sexy mini-dresses that show lots of leg or sequined gowns to show off her dancer’s bod, but she took a more tailored approach at the QVC show during New York Fashion Week.
This purple sheath dress shows off her hourglass figure with the skinny black belt drawing attention to her small waist and scoop neckline highlighting her glowing skin. What’s Burke’s key to dressing her curvy figure?
“Don’t be afraid of color. Don’t hide yourself under baggy clothes, as it makes you look boxier,” she says. “Show off your curves. The more you hide them, the more obvious they are going to look.”
The Ann Taylor Loft Woven Shift Dress is available in a beautiful shade of purple and features a flattering cowl neckline and figure-flattering side pleats. The price is right for only $29! This dress doesn’t come with a belt, but simple add on your own skinny black belt to give it a polished look.
Another great option is the Marc New York Women’s Belted Sheath Dress in a dark purple for only $36.99. This dress features a scoop neckline and comes with removable belt to draw attention to your waist.
Floral is another huge trend — and if you have spring fever check out the AGB Floral Belted Sheath dress from Macy’s ($72). This dress has the same tailored look at Cheryl’s dress, but in a fun and fresh floral print.
Cheryl finishes off her look with black patent leather heels, similar to the Calvin Klein Kendall black patent heel ($99) from Zappos. These stacked heels give you that extra height to keep you a leg-lengthening look.
The Dancing with the Stars pro, who is paired up with hunk William Levy this season, has had highlighted hair in the past, however shows off her long, dark erlocks that go great with her skin tone. To copy Cheryl’s long waves, apply a volumizing mouse to give your hair body and then blow dry it straight using a large round brush. Divide your hair into several sections, spray a small section with texturizing spray and use a wide-barrel curling iron to curl your hair. The T3 SinglePass Whirl Styling Wand is the gold standard for curling irons for creating these curls – but it will set you back as it retails for $130. Alternate the directions of the curls to give it that cool, beachy look. Set your curls with a light spray of hairspray. Don’t overspray or you will end up with crunchy, not soft waves.
